Ergonomic Considerations

• Tactile Feedback .........  Butterfly Picks possess structural features to allow you to sense with your picking hand the position of the pick in your hand and to sense the position of the tip.
• Grip ............ Unique ergonomic design allows a huge variety of musician's fingers to "lock" in a repeatable, effective grip.  Since no two hands or grips are alike, a variety of sizes, guages, configurations, and shapes have been designed in the SST and BFP lines to maximize your control and confidence in your picking hand.
• Overgripping.........The cause of a lack of fluidity and confidence in your musicianship.  If the picking hand is uncomfortable, tense, or working too hard, SO IS THE FRET HAND!!  (Sort of like patting your head and rubbing your belly at the same time-  called bilateral dysthesia or bilateral dystonia).  So-  relaxing your picking grip while retaining control will have a huge effect on your comfort and staying power while practicing or performing.
• An ergonomic aside...... The pinch grip, while strong, allows no effective tactile sense of the strength of grip- you simply aren't wired to sense HOW HARD you are gripping a flat surface.  The three dimensional design of Butterfly Picks actually allows more surface area to manipulate, more offset but central directing surfaces to provide feedback, and a structure that encourages firm but not over-strong direction of the tip through more effective finger contact.

    Butterfly Picks are quite different from regular planar picks, which resonate with the string.  A thicker body, molded tip, and central string contact through the dimensional aspect means that Butterfly Picks are actually acoustically tuned.  The shape of the initating body (the pick), the resonance, the material modulus, and tapering surfaces have created a new dynamic for stringed instruments. Pick-String Interface

    A variety of features are allowed by the manufacturing process used for Butterfly Picks that add to your musicianship.  Feathered molded edges, pre-stressed tip, tapering and grip-compensated surfaces, and central axis deflection are all used to provide a more central-feeling tip release.  Butterfly Picks must be tried to be believed!
