Design Notes

Butterfly Picks are designed from the premise that the guitar player will FEEL the capabilities of the pick.    Butterfly Picks have been musician tested with over four thousand guitar players, and ongoing design efforts are prompted and evaluated by suggestions from musicians just like yourself.

Briefly, Butterfly Picks are easier to hold, sound great, and have properties that allow faster and more responsive string contact.  YOUR TOUCH allows the pick to come alive, to store and release energy through string contact, and to create music as never before by your confidence and control through the unique grip.

Ergonomic Considerations

Acoustic Properties

Butterfly Picks are quite different from regular planar picks, which resonate with the string.  A thicker body, molded tip, and central string contact through the dimensional aspect means that Butterfly Picks are actually acoustically tuned.  The shape of the initating body (the pick), the resonance, the material modulus, and tapering surfaces have created a new dynamic for stringed instruments. Butterfly Picks should be individually tried for grip comfort and sound by the musician.  Three out of four guitar players report that Butterfly Picks sound BETTER than the pick they use now!

Pick-String Interface

A variety of features are allowed by the manufacturing process used for Butterfly Picks that add to your musicianship.  Feathered molded edges, pre-stressed tip, tapering and grip-compensated surfaces, and central axis deflection are all used to provide a more central-feeling tip release.  Butterfly Picks must be tried to be believed!
